Ace Computers will add two new models to its LMS various HTPCs, Ces of them in the show next week, well below the 250-grade LMS. Both will include CableCARD support, which allows users to view and record encrypted digital TV programming. The key factor is that Ace will be starting from a PC that is only under $ 1000, or about $ 500 less than competing models with the same CableCARD support.
Ace LMS will offer 250 well-2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD triple-core Phenom X3 from unspecified speed, with the former running in the media-oriented Viiv mainboard and the second on Maui entertainment AMD mainboard. Both systems include ATI Digital Cable Tuner is the CableCARD from your service provider, and one of the sports 2GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive and DVD burner. A version of Vista Home Premium with CableCARD support to pre-load one of the drive.
In exchange for a standard DVD burner and $ 100, a Blu-ray disc drive can be optioned up, while the second ATI tuner add the ability to watch one program while recording another, and $ 250 down the line. Great Expandability is to ensure through a dozen USB ports on the AMD-powered LMS 250, while Intel setup gets eight USBs.
No word on when the $ 999 Ace LMS 250 HTPCs expected hit store shelves.
