  Chronicle of higher education must read article for anyone who works in higher education. Should courses have badges attached, or perhaps even multiple badges representing attainment of courses. The A, B, C, D, F system is set to evolve to give meaning to the learning.

If scouting focuses on outdoorsy skills like tying knots, these badges denote areas employers might look for, like mentorship or digital video editing.
