The Switch From Flash To HTML 5

Gaming Club has long been known for its commitment to serving their customers. They have made the move into offering mobile casino services for their mobile customers. In order for this service to be functional, an interface has to be developed to permit mobile users to access the mobile site. In the past this was done by using Adobe Flash. However, this is no longer the case. Apple made the announcement in 2010 that they would no longer provide support for Adobe Flash. However, they did provide HTML5 as a suitable replacement.
games club
While this announcement was rather unpopular with software developers, the Gaming Club stayed out of the mudslinging that ensued. They instead focused their efforts on keeping their Apple customers happy and connected with their mobile casino. Actually, the Gaming Club already had created a version of its mobile software using the now supported and preferred HTML5.
The majority of the Gaming Club’s customers are Android users. Even though this move by Apple affected a minority of customers, the Gaming Club went ahead with plans and released the HTML5 version of the mobile casino for Apple users. With the new software, the mobile users could easily access both the iPad casino and the iPhone casino.
Some software developers scoffed at having to have a special version of their software for Apple users while offering Adobe Flash for their Android customers. The Gaming Club never blinked an eye at providing what their customers needed. In fact, customers were never affected with this smooth transition over to the new HTML5 powered casino.
Current Android users continue to access Adobe Flash through the downloading of Adobe Air at the Gaming Club site. Even though Apple customers account for 20% of the revenue of the mobile casino site, Gaming Club feels all customers are important and should be considered.

Optimus L3 Dual From LG Announced: Features And Specifications

Although Optimus L3 was unveiled much earlier in the year together with its brothers, L5 and L7, it wasn’t a dual SIM version at that time of unveiling. Just a few days ago, LG decides to announce its LG Optimus L3′s availability to India as a dual SIM smartphone, coined with the phrase extending to include “Dual” in its product name.
It isn’t hard to guess what is happening here. We know that the users in India have a special preference for dual SIM phones and that is exactly what LG has aimed to do to please the Indian users. Moreover, HTC also has just launched their dual SIM phone, HTC Desire VC, in India and that’s why LG decides to join in the fun with the L3 Dual. In case you didn’t know, dual SIM phones can allow users to switch networks on the same phone and this can actually contributes to better call cost savings as well as attaining better network coverage in certain areas.
LG Optimus L3 Dual SIM Smartphone
If you are interested to get this phone, you should be happy to know that it isn’t expensive. Currently, the suggested retail price is about Rs. 8299 and the specifications are almost the same as the L3 version, with the main exception being that this LG Otimus L3 Dual can support dual SIM capacity (Duh!). I would say that it also has a very minor facelift, making it slightly to look like Optimus Chic actually.
Here’s a look at the other specifications which you might be interested to know:
  • Android Gingerbread 2.3
  • Single-core Qualcomm processor (800 MHz)
  • RAM of 384MB
  • Adreno 200 GPU (For graphical acceleration)
  • Wi-Fi
  • HSDPA speed
  • Bluetooth
  • 1500 mAh battery
  • TFT display screen measuring 3.2 inches (resolution of 240×320)
  • 3.2 MP camera (VGA video)
  • MicroSD slot expansion up to 32GB
I would say that this LG Optimus L3 Dual is a decent buy, considering that it is bringing to us features that are usually sported in phones that cost about Rs. 10000 running Android OS. Of course, it is an entry level phone but in today’s economy, when it comes to the purchase of smartphones, we should always look for specifications coupled with the angle on its pricing. This phone is certainly competing with the others as a stronger offering with that two components in view.
Do share with us your views! Will you be getting the HTC Desire VC or this LG Optimus L3 Dual ?

Toshiba Thrive 10″ Gets The Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS Update !

The 10 inch tablet, powered by a 2 dual core processor by Nvidia Tegra and boasting of 1GB RAM, better known as the Thrive, has been doing quite well in the market-despite being run on the older Android platform, Honeycomb. This is because it has proved to be a pleasure to work with, as it is very responsive, a quality that many will appreciate. It is also easily customizable and has clearly been well built. All the same, everyone has been greatly anticipating the update of the device’s OS to the Android Ice Cream Sandwich as this promises to enhance the experience with the tablet even more.
The update, which months earlier had been announced to be scheduled for end of spring which was being eagerly anticipated by Thrive owners was delayed at the last minute by the manufacturers due to unforeseen circumstances. It was announced that the predicted time of release would be in early fall. This came as a big blow to all those who had been eagerly waiting for the update but the good news is that it is now finally here – for real!
Toshiba Thrive 10"
The update has actually come much earlier than the second predicted time, but a post on the Toshiba forum informing Thrive users of the move confirmed it. The post said in part, “we are pleased to announce a new software update for your Thrive 10 tablet.” The switch to the new operating system offers Thrive users an improvement in camera functions, video and audio performance and a much better connectivity resulting from improved signal strength.
How to get the update
There has been no news on an update for the 7-inch model, so it appears owners of this version will just have to be contented with the Honeycomb for the time being. If you own a 10-inch version however, the update should begin to roll out for you automatically in the due course of time.  You will get a notification from Toshiba concerning the update and should follow the on screen instructions to download it.  Those who have already downloaded the ICS report that it takes about 30 minutes to download once it starts.
If you are one of those people who just cannot wait for the notification however, go to your “Service Station” app on your Thrive tablet and click on Check for Updates to get the instructions so that you may download the ICS onto your device right away!

Here’s the news – Mobile computing has just been revolutionized! Honeywell announced the release of their first Android based handheld PC recently which is an enterprise digital assistant (EDA) like no other. This nifty device empowers workers to get a wide variety of tasks done from whichever location they may be in, in a very limited amount of time.
Dolphin 7800 Handheld PC By Honeywell
Honeywell left nothing to chance with this launch either. While announcing the release of the new device, the company also informed the public that it had entered into a patent agreement with Microsoft. This agreement would allow it to use Chrome and Android OS without any fear of the legal repercussions that might have been stirred up, had there not been such an understanding. While the complete specs of this agreement were not made public due to its confidentiality, it is clear that Honeywell will be paying royalties to Microsoft.
What about the features then? Well, the Dolphin 7800 is very well built, with the mobile workforce in mind. It is scan intensive and features warehousing and in-premise retail applications. It also features ergonomics that are user-focused. It is a wireless computer that greatly enhances the productivity of the workforce, and is thus the perfect device to help you maximize on your enterprise ROI.

Honeywell’s Dolphin 7800 is, in addition, compact and lightweight despite being so hardy. Its VGA 3.5 inch color screen offers high resolution which results in easy visibility even in extreme lighting conditions such as where the sun is shining directly in the device.
When it comes to Wi-Fi capabilities, the device has a built in connection with the added ability to switch between CDMA and GSM networks, thus giving a better assurance of uninterrupted connection as you can easily switch from one cellular carrier to another with a better connection. It also allows for real time access to critical data with its 802.11 a/b/g/n, 3.9G network.
Perhaps what truly sets this device apart is that it gives users the same enjoyment in using it as personal devices do. It boasts of highly sophisticated security features also which can give the organization peace of mind while using it. Be prepared to pay dearly for it though, the device ranges in price depending on the exact specifications as well as the retailer so do expect the rates to be anywhere around $1200 to $1500!

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 Running Windows 8 – The Answer To Microsoft Surface Tablet !

Lenovo have just given another reason to check out their latest product. There is no denying that with the latest gadget wars, the best way forward for a company is to send them out bigger, bolder and better. It is no surprise that even when the dust has not settled on Microsoft Windows 8, we have tablets already out. Well, if you don’t have the news yet, here it comes.
Lenovo, the computer maker, now has a 10.1 inch ThinkPad Tablet 2 running windows 8. Whoosh! That came fast. I mean, we all expect the retail version of Windows 8 to hit out stores in October, right? Anyway, here is what you need to know about the newest tablet on the block.
First, it is a tool for your business life and of course, what the tablet does best is complement your social life. So picture the following specs, which make it quite a darling. I think all other tablet manufactures are rushing to their research and development labs to become organized, especially the surface tablet.
Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 - Windows 8
The Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 will have the best that Windows 8 has to offer, the touch functionality. Therefore, it is your laptop turned into a tablet. Think of your original ThinkPad. Make it lighter, more portable and very intuitive to use. The tablet comes at a slim size of just 0.39inches by 10.3 inches by 6.5 inches.
Now, add native network functionality to it and here you are. If you get the ThinkPad Tablet 2, you are also getting a device to connect to your enterprise, together with a desktop support. This is why I say, this tablet will get others going back to the drawing board. All enterprise solutions come with the tablet. Security features include a SmartCard reader. For connectivity, you get a 2.0 USB connector. Moreover, HD and projector enthusiasts have a mini HDMI output for their intended use. Of course, we have the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
No device now can miss the two specs. Here comes the honey in the details. Yes, the ThinkPad Tablet 2 has both 3G and 4G capabilities. If this is going to be your meeting device, you know stuff like Skype and Google+ hangouts, and then you have a 2 megapixel camera at the front. The mic is incredible with noise cancellation abilities and it goes to your Lync and Skype with no fuss.
I am not leaving out the stunning pictures that you will take to share on your projects. The 8mp rear camera and LED flash are the best for that job. Now you know who the newest kid on the tablet market is. Go get it!

The Head Turning Chip Of 2012 Arriving In Samsung’s Exynos 5 Dual !

The Samsung Exynos 5 Dual is the first ARM Cortex A-15 based chip. It clocks 2.0 GHz as a Dual-Core processor that will be suitable for tablet computers. The chip uses a 32nm HKMG process technology. There is also a 1.7 GHz option that is low on power consumption while retaining its power.
The low level of power consumption is most attractive to device manufacturers and users alike. It will allow the manufacturers to enable multitasking without worrying about the battery. The Exynos 5 Dual is a chip for the graphic-intensive application since it is much faster compared to the dual core processor of the Cortex A9-based.
The next device that runs on the Exynos 5 Dual will have an increase in power efficiency of 30% compared to the best ARM chip present. Users can expect a richer 3D gaming experience as well as a remarkable reading experience. The improvement in support for high-resolution displays is a game changer for mobile/portable devices.
Samsung Exynos 5 Dual
Tablets and smartphones, as well as “phoblets” will benefit from the eDP interface. There is also a self-refresh technology that instructs application to stop sending images and other forms of data to its LCD display panel. This smart feature helps to reduce the power consumption when the device is displaying a still image.
The Exynos Dual 5 has a bandwidth of 12.8GB/s. It relies on 2-port 800 MHz LPDD3. This gives it an upper hand against the competition when it comes to heavy traffic operation. The new Exynos Dual 5 combines well with other booting devices such as SATA, UART, eMMC4.5 and the new USB3.0 so users have no worry on their demand for a sharp and crisp experience on videos, images and text processing.
The Exynos Dual 5 just increased the stakes in the mobile cheap wars. Many people marvel at the capabilities of the Samsung S III but they will be shocked to know that it runs the previous Exynos 4 Quad chip.  The greatest competitor to the Exynos 5 Dual will remain Snapdragon S4. However, it is unlikely that the existing chips will compete with the Wi-Fi Display technology for sending TV signal over the air to TVs.
Now, the dreams of your device becoming a hub for media streaming are no so far-fetched. Even if you are stuck with only the device running Exynos 5 Dual, you will enjoy the 8-megapixel support for image resolutions. Think of shooting video at 60fps on 1080 full HD. Just before you go out looking for the mobile device that has the Exynos 5 Dual, here is one more thing; all your video formats will be supported since the chip has an integrated Mobile Format Codec.

Helpful Hints For iPad Users

There seems to be no stopping the success of the iPad, with the iPad 2 selling out in major markets like Europe, America and Australia almost as soon as it hit the shops. Indeed the success of this particular mobile device from Apple seems to be virtually recession-proof, presumably thanks to the useful combination of computer and smartphone functions that it provides its users with. However, whether you are adjusting to the new iPad 2 or are a first time user of the device, it can be handy to have some hints for helping you get the most out of the device, so here are some things to bear in mind.
 iPad
The first thing to remember is that the closed Apple system that all iPads operate on makes it much less vulnerable to viruses and hackers than PCs or other mobile devices, because you can only download apps that have been vetted by Apple. This restriction is not much of a hassle, as the apps that are available should cover all needs, and is a blessing when it comes to risky software such as that for a download-based online casino. The software needed for this can carry a risk of malware, which is significantly reduced by the closed system. It is recommended to use reputable sites for ipad casino games and registered for your country such as an Australian online casino.
When it comes to using the functions of the iPad there are a number of hints that will help you get used to it. For example, if you are trying to access a website that has an address ending in something different than .com, you can locate alternative URL endings like .net and .org by pressing down and holding the .com button on the iPad keyboard. Alternatively if you want to take a screen shot, you should press down on the ‘home’ button, while simultaneously clicking the on/off button, which will take the photograph and save it in your photos file.

Archos G10 tablet with slimmer design to be unveiled in three weeks

Archos been manufacturing MIDs/tablets even before Apple announced the iPad. But they’ve always been more about low-end to mid-end devices, than about making gadgets that actually look and feel premium. It looks like that’s about to change with Archos’ Gen 10 tablets, which look like they were made to compete in the high-end market, hopefully for a lower price.
A few months back we got a glimpse of the Archos G10 XS, which is meant to be a competitor to the Transformer series from Asus. That seems like a good move, as I think there’s a lot of room on the market for hybrid devices that are not too expensive, and run much better than Windows 7 netbooks.
As an added benefit, tablets fitted with keyboard docks usually have a much longer battery life than netbooks. Asus Transformer devices can typically claim over 15-18 hours of use, a performance that is buoyed by the extra battery found in the dock. We don’t know if Archos plans to put a battery in the dock as well, but judging from its thickness , I’d say it includes a battery.
The Archos G10 tablet that you can see in the first image (teased on Facebook) of this post is supposed to be unveiled in 3 weeks, and it might not be the same G10 XS device. I expect the device to arrive with ICS, not Jelly Bean, and probably a Tegra 3 chip.

Samsung starts sending invites for Berlin Unpacked event, hints at Galaxy Note 2 unveiling

CES, MWC, and IFA are the events that usually host the unveilings of some of the most important new Android devices. Almost all of the big names in mobile tech have made a habit of using major trade shows to show off their latest “thinnest phone ever” or “world’s snappiest tablet”.
Samsung, on the other hand, seems to have started its own tradition, which consists of holding special “Unpacked” events, outside the established trade shows, to unveil new products. That has been the case with the Galaxy S3, presented at a huge London event back in May, and it seems that the company’s upcoming devices will get the same treatment.
We’ve known for a while that Sammy is preparing a new “Unpacked” event for August 29 or 30, and now the first invites have started to go out, confirming the date, but also hinting at the device to be unveiled.
One of the first invitation was received by the guys over at Dutch website MobileCowboys, who have been kind enough to publish it online. The Berlin event will take place on August 29, at 19:00 (we’re guessing Germany time, so GMT+2), and it will most likely have the Galaxy Note 2 as the star.
Unpacked-IFA-2012 2
Why are we saying that? Well, because there’s a stylus nicely placed on the Unpacked logo, hinting at the presentation of a gadget with support for such an accessory. Interestingly enough, Samsung is yet to send invitations for another event, which should take place on August 15. There’s a good chance that we will see the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet at that event, but we can’t exclude the possibility of Samsung showing both the Note 10.1 and the Galaxy Note 2 at the Unpacked event on August 29.
The invite for the pre-IFA event also includes a marketing slogan (“when magical moments come alive”), but that’s much too vague to reveal anything about the product(s) to debut in Berlin.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is one of the most anticipated gadgets to be released in the near future, with rumors and leaks flowing for the past couple of months. If you aren’t up to date with all these, you can check out our rumor roundup here, but also this “slipped” benchmark from a couple of weeks ago. Now tell us you’re not excited about it!

Galaxy Note 10.1 specs and features apparently confirmed, release date not so much

GALAXY Note 10.1
Announced back in February at MWC 2012 in Barcelona, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is yet to be available in stores, and at this point we’re wondering when the device will finally ship to consumers.
We know that Samsung is tweaking the tablet to offer an even better performance and we now have a new list of specs and features for the device, if Sam Mobile’s latest post is to be believed.
According to the publication, which received the manual for the device from an anonymous source, the device will ship with Ice Cream Sandwich on board, and Samsung will upgrade it to Jelly Bean at a later date. The Galaxy Note 10.1 is also expected to sport a 1.4 quad-core processor similar to the one found on the Galaxy S3 handset.
Here’s what you can expect from the device, according to the above image:
  • 10.1 WXGA TFT touchscreen display
  • 1.4GHz quad-core processor (replacing the initial 1.4GHz dual-core processor)
  • 5-megapixel camera with auto focus, LED flash and 720p video recording (replacing the initial 3.15-megapixel camera with auto focus, LED flash and 1080p video recording)
  • Bluetooth 4.0 (replacing the initial Bluetooth 3.0 on board)
  • USB 2.0
  • 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • A-GPS
  • Accelerometer, Magnetometer, Gyroscope, Light sensor
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

At the same time, the image above could be a fake one – and we do notice the misspelling of “acceleration,” which seems to suggest that – so take everything with a grain of salt.
We’ll also remind you that Samsung has scheduled two special media events for August, one on August 15, and one on August 29, with the latter now hinted to feature a stylus-based device.
Since we expect the Galaxy Note 2 to be unveiled in less than two weeks, should we assume that the Galaxy Note 10.1 will be re-announced at IFA in Germany?
Anyone excited?

Lenovo to launch IdeaTab A2105, A2107 and A2109 in September, pricing and spec sheets unknown

Usually, when we first hear about an unreleased smartphone or tablet that is “set to come soon”, it happens through leaks that unveil at least part of the gadget’s spec sheet, while leaving its official branding and ETA to mystery.
Lenovo has decided to break this “tradition”, however, and has made three of its future gadgets official, way ahead of their public release, without letting much slip about their spec sheets. The IdeaTab A2105, A2107 and A2109 form an intriguing tablet trio that will hit the market sometime in September. Let’s see what we know about each of these gadgets and why you should be interested in them.

Lenovo IdeaTab A2105

“Tablet, smartphone, all in.” That’s how the A2105 is advertised on Lenovo’s official website, and we have to say it’s not a bad way to get our attention. However, it’s unlikely that this will be another Padfone that you can easily turn from a phone to a tablet and the other way around.

Instead, we think that Lenovo has just found a clever way of marketing what we have come to call a “phablet”. The A2105 is set to sport a 5-inch touchscreen, and will come with a “stainless steel internal roll cage”, offline GPS navigation, “long battery life”, and dual SIM configuration. By the looks of it, the 5-incher might just be one of the first high-end dual SIM phones around, but the question is whether high-tech fans are interested in that particular function.
We don’t know how the A2105 will be technically equipped, but we do know that it will come with “up to Android 4.0”. Hopefully, the “up” is either a spelling error or a precautionary method, because we can’t even conceive seeing mid-range or high-end phones released in September 2012 with Gingerbread on board.

Lenovo IdeaTab A2107

The “affordable palm size entertainment” device will sport a 7-inch touchscreen, will have 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, as well as Android 4.0 ICS, and offline GPS navigation. Based on the tablet’s name, but also on the official pic published on Lenovo’s website, there’s a good chance this will be the global version of the recently released China-bound LePad A2107.

The LePad came with a single-core 1 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, a 3,550 mAh battery, dual 3 MP/2 MP cameras, and a microSD card slot. In addition to all that, the Chinese 7-incher had dual-SIM support, but there’s a good shot the global IdeaTab A2107 will lack that particular feature.

Lenovo IdeaTab A2109

The last device of Lenovo’s trio is not the high-end flagship you would expect, but rather advertises to bring “full size fun on a small budget”. The A2109 will be a rather bizarre 9-incher with an HD 1280 x 800 pixels resolution display. Other known features include the running of Android 4.0 ICS, dual 3MP/1.3 MP cameras, and an aluminum shell that could make this quite the elegant gadget.
It’s hard to make any predictions without knowing the tab’s other tech specs, but there’s a chance this might actually prove to be an attractive device (provided it comes at the right price).
So, what do you think? Will you be looking for any one of these three tablets when they are up for sale?

RIM Announced BlackBerry Curve 9320 & 9220 Specs

It was last week that we told you about that leaked BlackBerry Roadmap for the year 2012. The roadmap showcased of some of RIM’s upcoming devices. Two of which will be part of Research in Motion’s ever-growing line of BlackBerry Curve handsets. Guess what? It seems that the leaked details shown in the roadmap were correct.
From what we have recently heard, the two BlackBerry Curve handsets will be made available sometime within this year. There’s no particular date of availability but there have been reports stating that both handsets will be equipped with entry-level specs.
BlackBerry Curve 9320 & 9220
Dubbed as the BlackBerry Curve 9320, the mobile device will be flaunting its 2.44 inch qVGA display that will go alongside with its 3.2 mega pixel rear facing camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM Radio, GPS, Accelerometer, Magnetometer, Proximity Sensor, up to 32GB of micro SD card storage, 512MB of RAM, physical QWERTY keyboard and optical trackpad. The phone will have a built-in support for HSDPA 7.2 and HSUPA 5.76. It will be offered as a quad band device that can connect via GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900. The price of the handset wasn’t revealed but it seems that it will only be made available at selected countries in Asia and East Africa.
The BlackBerry Curve 9220, on the other hand, will be offered as a 2.44 inch handset with qVGA display and a full screen resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. In addition, the phone will also be equipped with 2MP rear camera with Fixed Focus and 5x Digital Zoom, physical QWERTY keypad, optical trackpad, 512MB of RAM, up to 32GB of uSD card, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, Digital Compass, Accelerometer, Proximity Sensors and FM Radio. Just like the Curve 9320, the phone’s price remains to be told.
Do keep in mind that these leaked specs are yet to confirmed. And despite of the fact that there are lots of budget-friendly Android phones in today’s market, those who are loyal to RIM will still opt for the newer versions of BlackBerry Curve.

BlackBerry Roadmap Shows 7 New Products For 2012 Year

You’ve already heard from us that RIM is currently gearing up for the upcoming release of BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 and BlackBerry OS 10. Both systems will be derived from a different platform called QNX. Now, you’re probably thinking of what’s next. RIM didn’t say much at the 2012 CES but it plans to release its new set of devices that will, of course, be running on its newly-developed kernels.
BlackBerry
If not for the leaked 2012 BlackBerry Roadmap that we got from the folks of n4bb, we wouldn’t have learned about RIM’s forthcoming products. But it seems that you won’t be seeing much of these new devices. Based from the leaked roadmap, there’s only one BlackBerry OS 10 device that will be launched this year. The mobile device will most likely be called as the BlackBerry London (or BlackBerry Surfboard) but you will have to wait until September before you can avail one at selected retail stores.
Aside from London, the roadmap revealed RIM’s plan to release the PlayBook OS 2.0 (along with the new PlayBook Admin Service) by the end of February. There were also rumors stating that the firmware could be out this coming February 17th. Meanwhile, the Mobile Fusion service management tool has already been slated for April. With Mobile Fusion, IT administrators can remotely access your BlackBerry, iOS or Android device. On the same month, RIM plans to release a 7 inch BlackBerry PlayBook with a built-in support for 3G+. The LTE enabled 10 inch PlayBook will then be released by December 2012.
But wait, there’s more. Do expect that RIM will be launching its two new Curve handsets. The date of release was not specified but it seems that the other one will be offered as a 2G only device. Sadly, the roadmap revealed that the phones will only be made available at selected regions in Africa and East Asia.

The new BBM 6.1 is a mixture of increased functionality accompanied by new features and a joyful blend of entertainment. One thing that is certain in the instant messaging world is that when it comes to Instant Messaging, BBM is way ahead of all the other services in the market.
Let us take a look at some of the new features of the BBM 6.1:
BBM 6.1.0.49

• Camera to Display Picture Integration: Clicking a picture and then uploading it to BBM as your display picture has been made easier as the steps have been reduced, and this can be done instantly with the new 6.1 BBM.
With these increased functionality we expect it satisfy the needs of the customers even better and provide them with a pleasant experience.

RIM Showcase BlackBerry OS 10 at 2012 Mobile World Congress (MWC)

There were rumors stating that Research in Motion (RIM) plans to license its BlackBerry 10 OS to a particular handset manufacturer but that may not be the case now. Words on the street have stated that RIM will be showcasing the said operating system at the 2012 Mobile World Congress.
BBX platform
Just don’t get your hopes high. RIM did note that it won’t be releasing the said OS until the later part of this year. Thus, it is very unlikely for the company to unveil any new hardware that will be powered by the BlackBerry OS 10. As for the trade show, it seems that Research in Motion will be focusing on the capabilities the aforesaid operating system. The BlackBerry OS 10 will highlight the use of BBM connected apps as well as the integration of NFC (Near Field Communication) that can be used for mobile payments and electronic identification.
It can be noted that RIM did rename its next-gen OS from BBX to BlackBerry OS 10 due to a legal dispute that was filed by a particular Albuquerque-based company. But what’s even more important to know about this new OS is the fact that it will based on Research in Motion’s QNX platform. That may seem like a good thing though. But there’s a bit of a downer. It seems that you won’t be able to upgrade your BB OS 7 based device to BlackBerry OS 10. The same goes for the PlayBook OS. On the lighter side, RIM promises that the BlackBerry OS 10 will flaunt a unified system that can be used on tablets, handsets, vehicles, etc.
This new QNX based platform from Research in Motion seems to be quite promising. We’re certainly looking forward to see the demo at the 2012 MWC. Most importantly, will this new OS from RIM be able to establish a solid base in a market that has already been infiltrated by iOS and Android? We’ll see.

Apple iPhone 5 Pre-Order in China: Rumored Specs & Release Date

Although the iPhone 5 is  a long way away from being released, that hasn’t stopped retailers in China from starting to accept pre-orders for the device. These retailers both online and offline have started displaying pictures of the purported new iPhone and some have even been posting technical specifications of the device.
Apple iPhone 5
Considering how tight lipped Apple have been about anything and everything to do with the iPhone 5, the source of these photos and technical specifications is somewhat dubious. Closer inspection has since revealed that many have been sourced from iPhone 5 rumors and mock-ups that have appeared online in the last few months.
Some Chinese retailers are even using pictures that closely resemble the iPod Touch.
Despite all of that, these pre-orders have already reportedly started to sell. Bearing in mind the immense popularity that Apple enjoys in China, this should come as no surprise. Some of the retailers are accepting pre-orders for a small ‘booking fee’ of about $200, while others are charging a full $1,100 upfront.
No release dates are offered by any of the retailers however.
Rumored iPhone 5 Specifications
There are a lot of rumors about regarding the iPhone 5 and what it will look like as well as what sort of specifications it will come with beneath its exterior.
Many rumors agree on the fact that the iPhone 5 will feature a bigger screen, and will have a much more sleek ‘unibody’ design for its aluminium casing that is reminiscent of the MacBook Air. As of yet the sources of these rumors are unconfirmed, but considering the iPhone 5 is set to compete against Samsung’s Galaxy S3, it stands to reason that it will probably have a larger screen than its predecessor.
Another rumor that is also unconfirmed is that the iPhone 5 will run on Apple’s new A6 quad core processors.
Last but certainly not least one of the more outlandish theories is that the iPhone 5 will come with a 3D camera that is capable of recording both still images and video in 3D. The source of this theory is a patent that Apple supposedly filed for that outlines a 3D imaging camera, but both the existence of the patent and whether or not such a camera is targeted for the iPhone 5 is in doubt.
Expected iPhone 5 Release Details
As of right now Apple has still not made any official announcement regarding when the iPhone 5 will be available. Many are expecting a ‘late fall’ release sometime from September to November however.
The most likely rumor regarding the iPhone 5′s release is that in late September it will be ‘unveiled’ by Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, before being finally released sometime in October. Even this is uncertain however, and until Apple actually comes up with a date it is really all just speculation.
While the iPhone’s popularity has already been well documented, this is the first time that retailers are actually accepting pre-orders for the device when there isn’t even an official release date. The worry is that some of these ‘pre-orders’ may actually turn out to be scams to take advantage of those who want to be among the first to get their hands on Apple’s new smartphone.

iPhone 5 Featuring 4-Inch Display & Sleeker Design To Land in Q3

While almost every smartphone manufacturer making buzz about their upcoming devices and releases, Apple couldn’t stand being left behind doing nothing. That’s why on Monday, a report indicated that the Cupertino-based technology titan will be releasing a new model of its famous iPhone this time with bigger display and newer, sleeker look. Brian White, Topeka Capital Markets analyst, received information during his meeting with suppliers in China that the next generation iPhone will completely be different and new. A new 4-inch screen is supposed to be used for the iPhone 5 and will come with a Unibody case to have a sleeker appearance, White said.
iPhone 5
Moreover, Apple might give its go signal to begin fabrication of iPhone 5 parts in June. If it will go in that time range, it is possible that we will be able to see the new iPhone in August or September. Well, no one really knows what will become the official name of the next generation iPhone. Others call it, iPhone 4S refresh, and some call it iPhone 5 and that include us here. Maybe Apple will call it the New iPhone when released just like its New iPad. But anyway, if the rumors were true, then it won’t take long before we can see another stunning device from the technology giant.
The 4 inches screen or display will definitely be larger than what the current iPhone has (3.5 inches) but it will never be huge that it will lose its sense of pocketability. Most of the smart phones released by other manufacturers have 4 inches displays or even bigger but iPhone owners are stuck with 3.5-incher because according to the late Steve Jobs, it is the perfect size for everyone in which many tech enthusiasts also agree. However, the plan of inducing Apple’s newest Retina Display technology may require larger displays. If this will be realized, then next gen iPhone owners will enjoy a resolution around 768 x 1024 pixels and ~316 PPI. Alongside these rumors come another suggesting that it may sport an A5X chip and 1 GB RAM just like the New iPad.
The 4G LTE is also cited by tech enthusiasts to be one of the features of the new iPhone to be able to cope up with the latest trends in the world of smartphones. We don’t know the exact release date as well as the price because basically the production hasn’t been started yet. But there is always truth behind these rumors. What they are will be revealed in due time. Anyway, if you are an iPhone 4S owner, would you buy this iPhone? Or does it even make an appeal to you?

Rumored iPhone 5 Specs & Features: Things We Want To See In The Next Generation iPhone

There is a lot of rumors and unconfirmed reports about the next generation iPhone (5) specs and features. Some say iPhone 5 will come with better, improved and enhanced processor while others say it will come with relatively larger screen. Among other rumors is the speculation that it will feature LTE connectivity. The thing is there is no available information about the real specs of iPhone 5 simply because Apple hasn’t revealed them yet. But it’s always good to have our own wish list of the things we want to see or included in the next release of Apple’s most popular device. So, we collated some rumors and speculations to be discussed.
iPhone 5
Improved processor. For specs-conscious people, an improved processor would always make an appeal because it is the benchmark of a faster device. Logically so, improved processor on iPhone 5 will lead to a better performance and faster processing. Moreover, a faster processor adds up to the reputation of a smartphone; the faster the processor is, the more popular the device will become.
Larger screen. The advantage of having a larger screen/display on the next generation iPhone is that things would look bigger in it and that owners will not find it difficult to browse as there is enough space for the fingers. But in truth, the reason why Apple made it almost a tradition to use 3.5 inches screen is because that size is just appropriate for any user; it’s neither big nor small. Besides, having a bigger screen might degrade the quality of the Retina Display on the device if Apple decides to showcase it on an iPhone.
LTE connectivity. The evolution of internet connectivity has been so vast in the past couple of years and users are wishing their devices are capable of transferring data at the speed of light. This capability is also on the wish list of expectant iPhone owners who might be planning on getting the next generation iPhone. It seems people are not content with the speed of our current internet connection.
Slimmer model. Let’s face it, slimmer smartphones are often dubbed as “elegant” than those bulky ones. There is some truth behind it, though. Slimmer but stronger devices often have the quality that goes beyond expectations and that’s where art and superb engineering enters. I might call those devices “amazing” than being “elegant” but honestly, it’s just the art of using words with the same meaning.

Apple iPhone 5 to Sport 4.6 inch Retina Display Confirmed by South Korea Media

Here’s good news for all the iPhone lovers. Apple has come up with its next generation ‘iPhone 5’. It may interest you to know that this new generation iPhone will be sporting a huge 4.6-inches retina display screen. Yes, you heard it right!
Is it a Rumor?
This news has been confirmed in the Maeil Business Newspaper issued by South Korea Media Outlet. The statement was quoted on Wednesday evening by Reuters.
iPhone 5
Brands like Samsung and LG supply the displays to Apple from their display units. But when asked about the news of supplying 4.6-inch display screens, both the brands decided to stay quiet. Industry reports state that Apple has already placed larger display screen orders to their suppliers.
Till Date this device has the largest screen size in Apple generation
The last release of Apple was iPhone 4S. The 4S model of iPhone had a 3.5-inch display screen that is believed to be an optimal size for one-handed use touch screens. So, as compared to the previous one, the latest generation of iPhone has an inch bigger display screen.
If we peep into the past, Apple had specifically declared that 3.5 inches display screen is an optimum size for a smartphone and the brand (Apple) wouldn’t be contending on display size. That’s the reason every version of iPhone including the latest release i.e. iPhone 4S had a 3.5 inches display screen.
Every year the display sizes of Android SmartPhones have been increasing with some or the other model stepping in to the market. It seems as if even Apple has entered the league. By launching iPhone 5, Apple is sure to give a tough fight to Samsung Galaxy S2 and flagship Galaxy Nexus by Google as these two shares the same display size of 4.6 inches.
What about the Specs and Techs of this New Generation iPhone 5?
Unfortunately, no other details have been leaked out about iPhone 5. The Techs and Specs remain a secret.
Price and Availability:
As per the statement made by Apple, the device will be available in the market by the onset of the second quarter this year. IPhone 4S was announced by Apple last October and it arrived in the market within the time frame. So let’s hope this next generation iPhone 5 will hit the floors soon.

Apple iPad 3 Release Date Set For March 7th: What to Expect?

A couple of days more and we’re finally going to bid farewell to the undying iPad 3 leaks and rumors. You see, Apple has officially announced that it will launch the iPad 3 this coming March 7th at San Francisco. Invitations were already sent and you are all cordially invited to witness the unveiling of the newest model of Apple tablet.
Apple iPad 3
Yes, we do know that the special event that will be held this coming Wednesday will consist of key people from the Cupertino based company. Still, that doesn’t mean that we won’t have the privilege to get a glimpse of the event’s real-time happenings. That being said, there are a couple of blogs and websites that will give us an update via live blogging. Sites like Macrumorslive, Live.ggdt, Engadget, Techradar and The Verge will surely give us the hottest and the freshest iPad 3 tidbits. Anyways, we aren’t really sure if the special iPad 3 event will be broadcasted throughout the web via Live Stream. In case that happens, we do recommend that you visit a couple of Apple-oriented live streaming sites such as uStream. As we have already stated, the special Apple event that will be held on March 7th will take place at San Francisco particularly at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. The said event will start at 10:00 o’clock in the morning and Apple did promise something that you really need to see.
The Apple iPad 3 has long been part of our rumor mill. Back then, there were lots of hunches. There were even rumors stating that the next generation of Apple slate will not be called as iPad 3. Instead, it will be called as the iPad 2S. That rumor probably rooted from the fact that Apple did opt to release the iPhone 4S instead of the iPhone 5. Nonetheless, there were credible leaks that have caught our interest. Some of these were stating that the iPad 3 will sport a high-resolution Retina display that will somewhat double the resolution of the current iPad slate. That being said, we do hope to see the next-gen iPad with a full screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. But that’s not all. We’ve also heard that the slate will be powered by a quad core processor and will finally have the needed support for 4G LTE network. There were also speculations stating that the iPad 3 will be packed with a high-quality rear camera with 5MP or 8MP sensor.
Still, it is best if we wait for Apple’s official word of confirmation.

Apple New iPad (3) Launched With iOS 5.1 & Retina Display Features: Pre-Order At Apple Stores

At long last, Apple has officially announced the upcoming availability of the iPad 3 aka the third-gen iPad. Funny, but Apple seems to call its new tablet as ‘The Resolutionary new iPad’. Still, it wouldn’t hurt if we prefer to use the shorter term.
Anyways, we did tell you that there will be a special iPad event that will be held this month. And speaking of which, the grand iPad launch happened yesterday and we were quite pleased to know that the slate did flaunt its long-rumored Retina Display. Hence the name we have mentioned a while back. But that’s not all. We have also come to learn that the third generation Apple slate will also be running on Apple’s latest operating system that we can proudly call as the iOS 5.1. But it’s not just the iPad 3; those with earlier versions of the slate can also download the said OS today. Just keep in mind that you will need to have the latest version of iTunes. The firmware can only be installed on the following Apple devices: iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad, 4th Gen iPod Touch and 3rd Gen iPod Touch. In addition, the iOS 5.1 will be packed with Japanese language support for Siri and it will also fix the bugs that affect the lifespan of your device’s battery.
Apple New iPad (3)
Let’s head back to the specs of the next-gen Apple tablet. So far, we have already told you that the iPad 3 will run on iOS 5.1 aside from its stunning Retina Display. As for the latter, expect that you’ll be getting a 9.7 inch tablet with LED-backlit glossy widescreen with a full screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. That’s even more vivid than your HDTV’s display. But that’s not all. The iPad 3 will also flaunt its fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating that goes alongside with its 5 mega pixel iSight rear facing camera with auto focus and FaceTime camera. The iSight camera will be capable of 1080p full HD video recording while the slate’s FaceTime camera can be able to provide you with VGA-quality images with video frame rates that won’t go any slower than 30 frames per second.
In terms of performance, you can definitely rely on the iPad 3’s powerful dual core Apple A5X chipset with quad core graphics. That’s more than enough to handle your slate’s pre-installed apps. Wait. Did we say pre-installed apps? Indeed. The third generation iPad (The new iPad) will be fully loaded with cool and fun applications. You’ll have iBooks for your reading necessities, iPhoto, AirPlay, iCloud, Maps, Newsstand, YouTube, Notes, Calendar, Reminders, Photo Booth, Game Center and a whole lot more. Of course, you will need a stable network connection to be able to maximize your experience. Apple knows that and you can easily toggle between your Wi-Fi and 4G network options. That’s right! With the new iPad, you’ll be able to connect to the web at blazing-fast 4G speeds courtesy of AT&T and Verizon. You will also be able to take advantage of the slate’s high-speed Bluetooth 4.0 Technology for file transfers. As usual, the slate will be equipped with built-in speakers, 3.5mm stereo headphone minijack and 30-pin dock connector port.
Appearance wise, the iPad 3 with iOS 5.1 and Retina Display is a bit thicker and heavier than the iPad 2. It flaunts its 9.4mm thin body with an overall weight of 652 grams. Not much of a difference. You won’t even notice that the slate has become heavier than its previous version. Likewise, it will be offered in Black and White colors.
Apple New iPad (3) Plan
As of now, the new iPad is currently available for pre-order at the Apple Store. The slate will be out in the market this coming 16th of March for a very competitive price that will start at 499 US Dollars. Basically, you will be able to choose between the iPad 3’s two variants. There’s the Wi-Fi only version and the Wi-Fi + 4G version. The latter can be availed via AT&T and Verizon. Both variants will be offered in three storage options: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The slate will also flaunt its new feature called Dictation which is pretty much like Google’s Voice for Android tablets and smartphones. Just like the iPad 2, the new iPad will also have its own Smart Cover that can alternatively work as a tablet stand.

Google Nexus 7 Pre-Orders Start Spreading Across Retailers

Although there’s still a week or so to go before Google’s Nexus 7 is available, various retailers are already starting to take pre-orders for the device. It is worth noting that once it is launched the Nexus 7 will be available for purchase directly from the Google Play Store but if you are in a rush to get your hands on one then the pre-orders may allow you to skip a longer wait for shipping.
Google Nexus 7
So far, the retailers that have live pre-order pages are Best Buy and their Canadian subsidiary the Future Shop, Staples, and GameStop. On the other side of the pond in the UK, Dixons have opened up pre-orders as well.
Discrepancies Between Retailers
All of these retailers only have the 16 GB version of the Nexus 7 listed as available, despite the fact that it was rumored that the 8 GB version would be launching first. Also rather bizarrely some of the retailers are providing different details regarding the date when the Nexus 7 will be available.
Staples says that it expects stock to arrive on July the 14th (or within the range of the 12th to the 17th), whereas GameStop lists the release date as July 31st. Even further down the ladder are Best Buy and the Future Shop which both say they’ll get stock on the 10th of August. Dixons has stated that buyers can expect to receive their device by July 17th.
On the official side of things Google’s last announcement pegged the Nexus 7 for release in the third quarter of 2012, so there is really no telling which date is accurate.
Another point of interest is that Best Buy and the Future Shop both list the price as $259.99 while Staples and GameStop are offering it at $249.99. Furthermore GameStop is running a 30% ‘trade bonus’ on items traded in towards purchasing a Nexus 7.
To sum it up, Staples would appear to be the best choice if you want the Nexus 7 early but GameStop is definitely worth looking at if you are interested in trading in an older device. Unfortunately Best Buy and the Future Shop lag behind in terms of their release date and the price of the device as well.
Nexus 7  Low Down
With a quad-core Tegra 3 processor and Google’s Android 4.1 Jellybean as its OS, the Nexus 7 is one of the most anticipated tablet releases this year. For all its sleekness, light weight and size, it packs a punch with the Tegra 3 processor that also comes with a 12-core GPU that displays movies, images, and games beautifully on its 1280×800 HD display.
It boasts 1GB of RAM, and support for WiFi and Bluetooth while including a micro USB port,  and the front-facing camera, microphone, accelerometer,  GPS, gyroscope, and magnetometer that you’d expect from a tablet.
Both the 8 GB and 16 GB versions of the Nexus 7 are reasonably priced especially considering the specifications that they pack under the hood.
All things considered it is a safe bet that with the hype and enthusiasm the Nexus 7 has generated the pre-orders will quickly fill up, despite whatever inconsistencies may exist between them.

Panasonic Toughpad A1 Tablet Passed FCC Testing, Soon to be Released

We have heard rumors and confirmed reports last year (around November) that Panasonic was planning to release a tablet so tough to withstand water pressure and shock that most of the tablets in the market today. However, six months have already passed until we heard another report and apparently an announcement from the company that the Panasonic Toughpad A1 has already made its way through FCC and is going to be released soon.
Panasonic Toughpad A1
We are hoping that since Panasonic stresses on the Toughpad A1′s water-proof capability that the summer time would be perfect for the release but it hasn’t confirmed any rumors or reports yet. In fact, the full specs were not officially provided yet only features. So, let’s try to tackle on features Panasonic provided and speculate on other specs not mentioned later.
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It is reassuring to learn that Panasonic’s Toughpad A1 will operate on the latest version of Android operating system (OS) and not Honeycomb. There have been some speculations that Toughpad will feature the robust nature of Honeycomb considering that Panasonic’s soon-to-be-released slate leaves the impression of being ragged.
4G LTE Broadband Connectivity. In a bid to capture a chunk in the 4G LTE market, Panasonic makes Toughpad A1 LTE-capable which is as attractive as it can get. But it is in this feature that we will know that even if this tablet will be as tough as what you might say it is, it doesn’t have a chance to sport a quad-core (Nvidia Tegra 3 or Exynos 4 Quad) processor. If Panasonic wants this device to excel, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 is the perfect choice.
Embedded Hardware Security. This is one of the features Panasonic considers a selling point. Not every tablet in the market gets a dedicated core for security. Although we still have to see what Panasonic has in store for us in terms of security, we are very excited to know this device does not only come with a rugged design but also a feature that make your data safe.
Rugged MIL-STD-810G Design. This is one of the superficial features of this device. But believe me, its design actually leaves an impression that Toughpad A1 will be a robust, rugged and tough tablet. While there are no specs available to compare my statement, I believe Panasonic will use a special kind of glass to protect the display panel.
Business-class Service and Support. This isn’t the first device that Panasonic released targeting the corporate market. So we were actually expecting that the company will be offering business-class service and support for all its users.
Now, let’s try to speculate on the specs this device might come packed with. I’ve already mentioned earlier that there is a possibility that Panasonic will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 dual-core CPU, if it wants to give this device more muscles while being rugged, the fact is Panasonic said Toughpad A1 will feature 1.2GHz dual-core processor so that’s more like it. With 1GB RAM and 16GB internal memory, I think this device will be as competitive as the other tablets in the market. But there’s no mention whether or not it will have a microSD slot or any slot that would support higher capacity removable storage devices. There’s no information about the price and availability yet but stay tuned as we might overkill this device in this blog.

The latest ViewSonic ViewPad E100 will be able to capture the market of consumers that wants to have the feel of an Apple iPad device but prefers to pay half the cost. The device has an impressive profile with its 9.1 mm depth and a mass of 620 grams that is just 20 grams lighter and 0.3 mm thinner than the iPad. Based on the figures above, the ViewPad E100 can really go head-to-head with the high-end product of Apple.
ViewSonic ViewPad E100
The ViewSonic ViewPad E100 houses a 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS display with a native resolution of 1024 x 768p. Put it side-by-side with the iPad and you would not see much of a difference between the two. On the connectivity side, users will not fall short of options as the new ViewSonic ViewPad E100 will have a lot of ports that the iPad 2 lacks. Price is expected to be around $300 which is much lower than the expected price of £260 for the wi-fi version and £325 for the 3G enabled devices. Wishtel Ira Thing 2 ICS Tablet launched For Only Rs. 6,500

For a company that only released their first two tablets about 3 months ago, Wishtel certainly seems to be doing well if the launch of yet another tablet is anything to go by. The Ira and Ira Thing by Wishtel received what the company describes as an ‘overwhelming’ response, and now the Ira Thing 2 has been launched to to build on that success.
Wishtel Ira Thing 2
Entirely designed and manufactured in India, the Ira Thing 2 is a trendy looking tablet that comes in 6 colors: Red, blue, black, yellow, pink, and white.
Specifications
The Ira Thing 2 is a 7 inch tablet with a multi-touch capacitive screen that runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Considering the 7 inch tablet market in India already has a number of entrants with Ice Cream Sandwich on board, the Ira Thing 2 faces some stiff competition.
Its 1.5 GHz processor is fairly impressive especially considering the price point, but the fact that it only sports 512 MB of RAM does disappoint slightly too. Also, it only has 4 GB of internal memory for storage, though the support for MicroSD will allow users to extend that by up to 32 GB.
On the front of the tablet is a 1.2 Megapixel camera. Although that isn’t much to brag about, it will allow for video calls and conferences, which is the idea really.
The connectivity of the tablet is a little bit disappointing. It does support WiFi but it does not have Bluetooth or a GPS. To connect to 3G networks, a dongle will be required, which must be obtained separately but isn’t too big of an issue.
Looking at it on a side profile, you’ll notice the 3.5 mm standard audio port, and a mini HDMI port as well.
With a 3000 mAh battery, the advertised ‘browsing time’ of the Ira Thing 2 is ‘up to 4 hours’. Chances are it will be a little less, but that does sound near what would be expected.
A Trendy, Localized Tablet
All in all, the Ira Thing 2 has 2 main selling points, the first of which is the fact that it is a trendy and well engineered device that looks good. Unlike some of the other clunky tablets available at around this price point, it stands out remarkably with its pastel colored exterior.
The second advantage the Ira Thing 2 has going for it is the fact that it has a number of localized customizations on board. It has an Indian language keyboard that supports 14 of the major languages used in the country, which is definitely a plus point.
Other localized options include a news app that will access all the major newspapers, and a TV app that delivers over 120 channels.
Long story short, at Rs. 6,500 the Ira Thing 2 is a tablet that has decent connectivity options, is able to play full 1080p HD movies, and shouldn’t have any issues with apps. What will truly determine its success is probably whether or not it is able to tap into its target market, i.e. the youth of India.
If nothing else, the entry of the Ira Thing 2 into the 7 inch market is bound to intensify the competition there further.

Simmtronics Launched XPad Tablet in UAE – World’s Most Affordable Tablet Series

Simmtronics may not be a household name just yet but it took several steps in that direction on Wednesday in Dubai with the launch of its XPad series of Android tablets.
Claiming that the tablet’s were the ‘world’s most affordable’, it is targeting consumers who are looking for a budget tablet without compromising on its quality or features. The tablets that Simmtronics offers are all made in India, and are already selling extremely well in the Asia Pacific region.
XPad Tablet
The company admits that calling the series of tablets the ‘XPad’ was a conscious marketing decision to opt for a short and easy to recall name reminiscent of the iPad rather than other options such as the SimPad or Simmtronics Pad.
XPad Series Specifications
In the XPad series are a total of 5 different tablets that measure up at 7 inches, 8 inches, 9 inches, 9.7 inches and 10 inches. All of them run on a Cortex Arm8 1GHz processor and feature Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich as their operating system.
On the storage front they have 4GB of internal Nand Flash memory, and also provide MicroSD card support that allows for an additional 32GB.
With both a USB and HDMI port, the XPad series offers users a lot of options and flexibility when it comes to connecting their devices to other peripherals. It is fully WiFi capable, and also has support for 3G connectivity. The only feature missing is support for GPS.
While fulfilling its promise to deliver maximum connectivity for mobile users, the XPad has the capability to handle 1080p HD video seamlessly, render 2D and 3D graphics without issues, and perform well above its price range.  Right now the cheapest model in the XPad series is the 7 inch edition that was launched at a price of Dh 299 ($81.40).
Despite the fact that the launch of the Nexus 7 tablet is set to alter the 7 inch tablet market, the fact that a Nexus 7 will be selling at over double the price of a 7 inch XPad is a good sign that the XPad will remain competitive.
Reception and Future Plans
So far Simmtronic’s foray into the tablet market has been very successful. The manufacturer of motherboards, memory, notebooks and tablets has often made the news for its budget tablets and claims to be able to customize tablets for as low as $40.
At the launch of the XPad in the UAE, Simmtronics also revealed that they will be manufacturing another tablet tailored specifically to the needs of Middle Eastern students. No further details were forthcoming, but it stands to reason that it would be even cheaper than the  7 inch version of the XPad.
Due to the sheer amount of orders that Simmtronics has been receiving for its tablets, they face the need of having to expand their manufacturing facilities. Already the factory in India is capable of churning out approximately 300,000 units per month, and they are hoping to double that soon.
On the heels of the XPad series, Simmtronics already plan a number of other low budget but high quality tablets, and are already looking to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab.
