How to flash TWRP Recovery on the Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101, with its dual-core 1.0 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, is the ultimate tablet on the go. Combined with a detachable keyboard, the tablet is one mean machine capable of handling any task whether for gaming or for business. One way to enhance this tablet is by installing custom ROMs through custom recovery.
Luckily for Transformer users, XDA Member rayman33 has managed to make an unofficial port of TWRP Touch Recovery.
TWRP Touch Recovery is the alternative to ClockworkMod Recovery and features touch controls, color themes, ability to flash multiple zips on one go, save custom recovery settings, ZIP signature verification, and a whole lot more. This custom recovery for the Transformer TF101 in particular has a fully working terminal emulator, with exclusive fixes provided by the developer).

Requirements

  • ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101 with root access and ClockworkMod Recovery installed.

  • Download the TWRP Recovery installer package (TWRP-2.2.zip, md5sum: 204dca9718e2af3f248c1607c6183a8f) from the following:
  • Backup all personal data on your phone to make sure you have a copy of your personal data (e.g., contacts, SMS, MMS, Internet settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and the like) in case the procedure in this guide erases such data.

Instructions

  1. Copy the TWRP-2.2.zip file to your tablet’s SD card.
  2. Switch off your tablet.
  3. Boot into ClockworkMod Recovery. You can do this by pressing and holding down the Volume Down and Power buttons. As soon as you see text scrolling at the top left of the tablet, push the Volume Up button to enter Recovery Mode.
  4. Select Install ZIP From SD Card.
  5. Select Choose ZIP From SD Card. Locate the downloaded TWRP-2.2.zip file and select it.
  6. Confirm the installation by selecting Yes on the screen that follows. Wait for a couple of seconds for the recovery package to be installed.
  7. After the installation process is complete, head back to the main recovery menu.
  8. Reboot your tablet by selecting Reboot System Now.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed TWRP Touch Recovery on your ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101.
