Rovio Entertainment confirmed today through a press release that its popular Angry Birds Space title would also be coming to Windows Phone platform and Nokia handsets contrary to what we have previously known. About two months ago, we’ve heard reports that Rovio has turned down the possibility of Angry Birds Space release on Windows Phone leaving iOS, Android and BlackBerry as the mobile platforms to get this great app as well as all of its updates. But that changes today as Rovio’s chief executive Mikael Hed confirmed the rumors that a new version is under development for Microsoft’s mobile platform.
The original Angry Birds has already been seen in both Windows Phone and Nokia handsets and it has become one of the most popular apps is such market. The previous news that Angry Birds Space wouldn’t be seeing a release on the said platform had raised thousands of questions from the owners of WP and Nokia devices knowing it would become a hit as it did in iOS and Android. Rovio actually had some explaining to do but it neither denied nor confirmed the rumors until today. He said that both Windows Phone and Nokia have been contributed largely to the success of the first iteration of the most popular app, so there is no sense they will both be left without receiving the second iteration.
The fact is, Hed even called both as “long-standing partners” evident that had it not because of them, Angry Birds couldn’t have reached a new heights in the mobile game market. While we can say that Windows Phone is still struggling hard to be able to keep up with both iOS and Android, it seems to be trekking the right track to success. The team up with Nokia was one of the critical decisions made by Microsoft to ensure the success of its mobile platform. Eventually, both companies agreed to set up an academy of Windows Phone app developers based in Finland so that the number of apps in the Windows Phone app store would grow each month.
Both companies are also doing their best to attract the attention of millions of developers around the world to build apps for Windows Phone. Currently, iOS is on the lead as to the number of apps in its repertoire. However, Android seems to be keeping up fast. Not for long now, both of these mobile platforms will be facing toe-to-toe as to who will take the lead as far as the number of quality apps is concerned. Windows Phone is still nowhere to be found in the market as well as Blackberry.
But it is always good news for every Angry Birds fan that the Angry Bids Space would soon be released for Nokia devices and WP mobile platform. Rovio has been so consistent with the levels and designs of its game apps that you will never feel the difference if you are playing the game on any platform. So, basically, WP device owners would be getting the same excitement and enjoyment when the game is finally released.
