Toshiba AT200 Excite 10 LE and AT300 Excite 10 to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

The Nexus 7 is hoarding the tablet spotlight for the time being and it’s easy to forget that there are many Android tablets out there that merit some discussion – with many powered by the same powerful Tegra 3 processor found inside the Google device. With all the talks of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, word has it the Toshiba AT200 and AT300 will get a free pass to enter the jelly territory.
Tabletguide apparently has received confirmation from Toshiba that the two aforementioned slates will be upgraded to the latest Android OS version. The software update will be rolled out over-the-air (OTA), but, unfortunately, the report falls short of mentioning a specific date.
The Toshiba AT200, also known as the Excite 10 LE, was released back in March in the U.S. with so-so specs and Android 3.2 Honeycomb on board. However, the tablet was a turning point for the Japanese company, as its design was hailed as a stark improvement over the old and rather chunky Thrive series. Building on the strength of the Excite 10 LE, Toshiba has recently launched a successor, baptizing it the Excite 10. The device boasts a quad-core 1.2GHz Tegra 3 processor, HD display with Gorilla Glass and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
If the Jelly Bean update does come for Toshiba AT200 Excite 10 LE and AT300 Excite 10, there’s reason to believe that other tablets in the Excite series will be receiving the Jelly Bean upgrade in the future as well. And on that note, we’ll keep you posted!
