As an example, or in case you’ve missed it, check out our hands-on video of the ASUS Transformer AiO which features an 18.4″ display and supports both Android 4.0 and Windows 8. If you think that is big, the device we’re looking at right now, the Viewsonic VCD22 “tablet” is almost 4 inch bigger!
Yes, as the name suggests, the VCD22 features a massive 22-inch display with a resolution of 1920×1080. Before we talk any further about this tablet, I know many of you are thinking, “Pics or it never happened.” We can do you one better and show you a hands-on video of the device, introduced by our very own editor-in-chief, Darcy Lacouvee.
As mentioned, the VCD22 cannot exactly be called a tablet, as it does not house a battery but instead requires a power connection at all times. Specifications of the device include:
- Android 4.0 out of the box
- 1920×1080 full HD display
- 1 Ghz, dual-core TI OMAP 4428 processor
- 1GB RAM
- 8GB internal storage, expandable via microSD
- HDMI-in
- 1.2MP front camera
We already have the “phablet” which attempts to bridge the gap between smartphones and tablets. Anyone want to take a shot at coming up with a name for devices that bridge the gap between tablets and televisions?
What are your thoughts? What would you use such a large tablet for? Is the price point of the VCD22 low enough for you to consider buying this device? Let us know in the comments section below.
