Apple recently released the IOS 5 beta 3 which brings a multitude of new features for the users of iDevices. A novelty present in the IOS 5 beta 3 which has not yet been discussed is the ability to make FaceTime calls using the AirPlay Mirroring function. So how does this new feature actually work? It is very simple to use! Basically, we connect the iDevice to a TV by using anHDMI adapter from Apple and we will be able transfer the image present on the terminal’s screen onto the TV screen while the camera will continue shooting.
By transposing the image from the iDevice on the TV we can see larger images of our interlocutor but do not expect a good resolution as we are still talking about FaceTime and front facing cameras that are not capable of HD video calls.
Apple mentioned this new feature in the presentation film of the IOS 5 but it seems that only now this function has been activated for iDevices. For me this feature was pretty useless until now because I lacked a FaceTime partner for regular video calls. This feature is very important for companies and for them it will count a lot. For the rest of us, however, I don’t know how important this function really is but I’m sure you can have a blast! Returning to companies, by using this function, they can do video conferencing and if Apple will allow FaceTime via 3G then everyone can be called and can make calls from almost anywhere in the world.
It’s a very good feature as it takes FaceTime to a whole new level and I hope that Apple will implement it into the final build of the IOS 5. Time will only tell… in the meantime, stay tuned for more news!
