Features
The Motorola Clutch comes with a 600 entry address book, and up to seven phone numbers, email address, PTT (Press To Talk) Number and notes can be stored against each contact and all contacts can be organized using groups and PTT groups. Other usual basic features includes vibrate mode, speaker phone, text and voice memos, call timers and calendar and date book, Bluetooth is also available on this messenger phone. The Boost Mobile Push-To-Talk service compatibility helps in getting in touch with your contacts across the nation through walkie-talkie style communications. Text and multimedia messaging and treaded message management helps in keeping track of conversations. The Clutch i475 supports web mail access through the POP3/SMTP service; it also supports the popular internet messenger services. A good feature to have as a plus for a simple messenger phone is the GPS. The VGA camera is only able to take still images at four resolutions between 640×48 and 220×176, and the camera application allows for rudimentary image adjustments before taking the picture. The Clutch i475 comes with Java support and a number of Java apps can be downloaded. The image storage is limited to 8 Megabytes and you have to be careful when using it because the phone does not support a microSD slot for memory expansion.
Verdict
The Clutch +i475 from Motorola is a basic and affordable messenger and voice cell phone. The compact and round cornered candy bar design makes this phone easy to use. The well spaced keys on the QWERTY keyboard are easy to use and the rounded bevel allows easy identification of keys by touch. The Clutch +i475 has good voice quality which along with the easy messaging capabilities makes this phone an attractive deal for those in the market for a messenger phone. The build quality is not that great and does not give the confidence that its predecessor instilled. The VGA camera is good for images only and not of very high resolution, quality is limited. There is no microSD support to augment the 8MB of internal memory. No significant change in overall specification from its predecessor also works against it. This Motorola Clutch is not a multimedia phone, but a functional messenger and telephony device and should be considered as such.
Price
Motorola Clutch i475 is available for $99.99 without a contract from Boost Mobile. For under a $100, it is a decent messenger phone to select from the Boost Mobile lineup.
