Evolio Neura – A Romanian Android based tablet boasting iPad and Xoom ambitions

The Evolio Neura isn’t the first Android tablet manufactured in Romania. The first tablet was the Allview allDro tablet but due to its modest hardware specs, it failed to compete against a much stronger opposition. Things have changed now for the better as we find out that there is another product made in Romania and this time with specifications that can transform it into a worthy rival for the iPad. It is called Evolio Neura, a tablet based on the Android operating system.

The terminal was recently announced by the Televoice company and it is expected in stores in the coming weeks. Let’s have a closer look at the specs. You should be happy to find out that we are dealing with a device sporting a Tegra 2 processor clocked at 1GHz and a capacitive 9.7 inch touch screen. The Wide View Angle display is the same as the one found on the iPad, so a great addition to this chapter.
The Neura tablet is able to run any Android application respecting the open source belief of Google. Regarding the connectivity department, you get access to all the popular options among users: USB, LAN, HDMI, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G via integrated modem. The remaining specifications include a microSD slot, 1GB RAM DDR2 and 16GB SSD storage, up to 32 GB via microSD. This product also has a unique aspect: an ecosystem of content in the Romanian language, including an electronic newspaper with news in real time, a virtual library of digital titles, interactive TV and more.
As for the OS, the Evolio Neura tablet can run the Android 3.0 Honeycomb but for now it will be delivered with the Android 2.2 Froyo, the tablet version. In the near future, a Honeycomb update is expected. Let’s hope the tablet also gets a release in European territories.
