Using counterfeit accessories for iDevices? Think again!

In the last couple of days, a story in which a developer of iOS applications claimed that a power cable for the iPhone suddenly caught fire when he put the device to charge surfaced on the web. He tried to suggest that the iOS 5 is the one to blame but it’s hard to believe so. However there remains a puzzle, whether he used an original cable or a counterfeit one. There are many models of cables for iDevices on the market that resemble the originals but they come at ridiculous prices and listen carefully… they are dangerous to your terminal!

A week ago, more out of curiosity, I ordered some $ 1 cables from China and once they arrived, I decided to put it to the test so I charged an iPhone on my laptop. To my surprise, when I plugged the cable in the USB port of the laptop, my laptop stopped working and suddenly shut down. Its refusal to start until I removed the battery was phenomenal.
Using the original cables received in the iPhone’s package did not present the slightest problem in more than a year of use but the cable I bought from China instantly shut down my laptop and not just once! Keep in mind the fact that such cables are not made respecting the Apple standards and I consider them to be dangerous and obviously, you use them at your own risk, folks!
Of course there are many accessories made in China which when connected to iPhone are not working at all or are malfunctioning. Although the majority of products we use are manufactured in China, the major manufacturers have quality standards while the duplicates’ manufacturers have NO standards at all. I’m sure many have bought cables or similar $1 accessories and used them without problems so far but we do not learn until we get hurt. Originals accessories are still the way to go!
