Red Faction – Armageddon Lets You Wreck Havoc within the Game

With a large number of third person shooter games in the market, many of them would go for entertainment value, but only one game would stand out for featuring its own distinctive quality. It may be its awesome game protagonist, its original storyline, or just having the inexpressible “it” that makes every player’s desire for gaming insatiable. For this reason, the latest installment of the Red Faction series, Red Faction: Armageddon has arrived into its own. The Red Faction series were developed by Volition Inc. The game has been promoted on its decade-old standing as a game that exhibits real-life physics. It features the new and improved GeoMod 2.5 as its engine and carries on to bring chaos and destruction upon the stony chasms of Mars.

Players portray the character of Darius Mason, grandchild of Red Faction: Guerilla’s Alec Mason. The game’s setting is on the colonized Mars. The story starts with Cultists menacing to blow up Mars’ terraformer, a facility that calms the planet’s harsh environment. As a member of the Red Faction, Darius Mason is sent into the fight to remove the threat. However, the mission has gone wrong, leading to the terraformer’s destruction and forcing the colonists to move underground in order to get away from the terrible weather. Years after the event, Mason accidentally sets Mars’ sleeping inhabitants free, an alien menace that is concentrated on ridding Mars of its human inhabitants.

Red Faction:

Armageddon is a unique 3rd-person shooter. Players need to pass through linear levels to achieve every objective while being pounded by waves of aliens. Missions vary from going to point A to point B, escorting a convoy, and destroying infested structures. Equipped with an assortment of weapons to take down both aliens and buildings alike, you will not get tired of bringing and seeing destruction. Breaking objects and picking crates increase player “Salvage” points to improve Mason’s attributes and skills.
The GeoMod 2.5 engine has no major graphical upgrades, but it lives on the cataclysmic glory of the series. Apart from blowing things up, Mason can also use the Nanoforge to rebuild blown objects. The physics bit is quite strange, but the Nanoforge is quite a handy feature to allow players to go all out with the environment and reconstruct it afterwards in order to proceed. The game does not come with a competitive multiplayer version. Nevertheless, Armageddon has a cooperative “Survival” mode called Infestation. Another game mode featured is the Ruin mode. This gives the players a chance to bring destruction upon the abandoned areas within a certain time limit. Basically, it’s a game mode to boast GeoMod 2.5’s physics and explosive popularity.

Red Faction:
Armageddon is a decent game and it features everything in third person shooting and adds huge amount of destructive elements in it. Unfortunately, the game experiences repetitiveness and dull moments. However, this is covered by its in-game physics engine as well as the creativity in destroying objects. Therefore, if you’re serious, angry, or just looking for some fun, then Red Faction: Armageddon can unleash the inner child in you.
