Samsung lost a major figure in the person of CTO Omar Khan, the brains behind the Galaxy S and Galaxy S II smartphones as well as the Galaxy Tab series. Now, the official will leave the Asian manufacturer for Citigroup, according to TDG, dealing with the digital banking section of the company. Omar Khan was a vital part of Samsung and to acknowledge this you just have to look up at the sales number of its phones. If the sales of Galaxy Tab were reasonable and the Galaxy S phone broke records with its over 10 million units sold last year, neither the Galaxy S II isn’t letting anyone down, reaching 3 million units in 55 days.
On the other hand, we must keep in mind several aspects such as the recent devices and pricing policies of competitors. Meanwhile, Samsung began to no longer be regarded as a major rival to Apple and its iPhone, due to the emergence of Acer and ASUS tablets sporting some very attractive prices. Tough competition from the likes of Acer and ASUS is faced by Samsung and don’t forget that they also have to fight Apple in the courtroom as well. In the light of accuses for copying Apple’s products and the latest exchange of statements means that Samsung aren’t feeling very well right now. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t look into the future. As a result, the release of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 slate that will follow the 10 inch model launched a few weeks ago is planned by Samsung.
How will Samsung cope with the loss of one of its most important officials? The Galaxy S II model hasn’t yet penetrated by US market while Motorola and HTC dominate the market with dual core phones. I’m sure though that Samsung many brilliant minds inside their company that will make up for Omar Khan’s departure.
