Android App – Twitter GOWidget Review – Features, Ease of Use

Twitter GoWidget is one free widget that helps you manage your twitter account. You can post tweets, send replies, retweet and even post pictures. This widget is a new release for Go Launcher EX. With multiple features and zero cost, this widget will prove extremely useful for occasional twitter users with Go Launcher EX in their android phones.

Features:

The twitter widget allows you to post tweets, check mentions and personal messages and post pictures to your account. You can even perform functions such as re-tweeting other tweets and favoring them. In the right corner of the upper bar, three buttons can help you shift easily between private messages, your timeline and mentions. The home page of the app is 4×4 inch in size. The app has a simple blue border, similar to the color scheming on twitter. There is no way to change this theme however, or to customize the widget in any way. Uploading photos is easy, as the widget allows you to upload and crop images from your library. Scroll down option is available which makes browsing easier. The widget generally is pretty fast and responsive.

Ease of Use:

The widget requires you to install the latest version of Go Launcher EX. It also requires Android 2.2 and above. The widget has a very simple and twitter like interface and browsing is pretty fast. Shuffling between viewing your timeline, private messages and mentions is very simple due to the bar on top. Uploading pictures has been seen as an issue since the widget chooses to post some pictures while others are not posted on your account. In such a scenario, you might be required to upload pictures through other means.
The size of the font might prove to be an issue for some people since it is a tad bit too small. Even if the font is understandable, it is a strain for the eyes. The sad part is that the widget does not allow customization and thus there is no way to change the size of the font.

Verdict:

The widget is more suitable for people who don’t use twitter very frequently and post tweets twice or thrice a day. People who use twitter more frequently will find better twitter applications and widgets out there. The app does not allow the viewing of the full profiles of your followers. It also does not allow you to manage more than one account. These restrictions can be frustrating for regular twitter users. The widget is a good addition if you are a Go Launcher EX user and use twitter once in a while.
