Nokia Asha 305 & 306 Revealed: Dual SIM & Touch-Screen Features

Finnish mobile phone manufacturer Nokia has recently announced the existence of its newest addition to the lineup of its budget-friendly mobile devices. Nokia Asha 305 was showcased with its dual-SIM functionality while Nokia Asha 306 for the touch screen capability. Nokia has been so busy about releasing it own line of smart phones operating on Windows Phone system with Nokia Lumia 900 just recently released. However, it is not really possible for any manufacturer to release high-end devices every month. That is why to keep their brand in the loop, they need to release budget-friendly devices which are of course affordable for everyone.
Nokia Asha 305 & 306
Nokia Asha 305 Specs
Coming in the third quarter of this year, Asha 305 boasts of its functionality being a dual-SIM touchscreen device. Nokia confirmed that both SIMs support GSM 900 / 1800 networks. For people using two networks at a time, the option for dual-SIM is actually one way to make things easier as you don’t have to insert the other SIM just to receive text messages, or calls. Basically, you can insert two different SIMs and receive messages on the same number simultaneously contrary to the typical dual-SIM functionality we have seen on other devices.
This handset features TFT resistive touchscreen which is way cheaper than the capacitive touchscreen panel. This leaves an impression that Nokia was looking to release a complementary device just to have its brand be heard among the crowd amidst all the noise make by other manufacturers. It also features 2-megapixel primary camera which can record videos with 176 x 144 @10fps. Its battery is quite powerful at 1110 mAh and would last up to 14 hours of talk time or 40 hours of music playback. It would be made available in 4 different colors; silver white, Mid Blue, Red, and Dark Grey.
Nokia Asha 306 Specs
Asha 306 has the same screen size as Asha 305 at 3.0 inches with 240 x 400 pixels resolution. It also features TFT resistive touchscreen with multi-touch support. Its camera has definitely the same specs as the previous so there’s no excitement over this one. The thing that’s lacking in this model is the dual-SIM functionality but not everybody really need it. Asha 306 will be released with 2GB microSD card included but it can be upgraded to 32GB if you want to.
It seems like both Nokia Asha 305 and Asha 306 will be released together to give people new options. While there is no official information about the price, we have all the reason to believe both will be offered on the same price range considering their specs are almost identical. The advancement in mobile technology is the reason why these devices could hardly get the attention they need to sell. These devices will surely be offered at a lower price but since there are already budget-friendly smart phones available in the market today, we can always fear that they will not really perform in terms of sales. But then again, I guess both deserve a look and a little contemplation.
