LG has been planning the reveal of the much hyped Thrill 4G for some time now, and AT&T have now announced via Twitter that the phone will be officially launched on the 4th of September. When the phone was originally announced to the public it was known as the
LG Optimus 3D, almost sounding like something out of a Transformers movie. After the deal was made with AT&T the phone was re-branded as the
LG Thrill 4G, in an effort to create a little bit of excitement around the handset no doubt.
As you more than likely already aware, we have already seen the launch date pushed back on two separate occasions. The LG Thrill 4G was originally scheduled for launch on the 7th of August, was then delayed and pushed back for an August 21st release, and then was almost comically delayed even further. At least we now know when the Thrill 4G will finally be released into the wild, pending any further unexpected delays that is. With
IFA Berlin 2011 just around the corner, LG will be out to impress with their latest smartphone offering.
With the number of high end
4G LTE capable smartphones being released in the current market it is of vital importance for LG to stay in touch with the competition, and they have pinned their hopes on the Thrill 4G to do just this. The glasses-free 3D screen is an interesting feature of the Thrill 4G, but will it be enough to keep it competing with the likes of the Samsung Celox, the GT-I9220, or the Nexus Prime? Time will certainly tell, and hopefully IFA will shed some more light on all of the previously mentioned phones. Once we have them all lined up together then some real comparisons can be made, and that’s when the real fun begins!
