LG G-slate Tablet From T- Mobile – Review, Specification, Features, Price

The G-slate, released on 20th April 2011, leaves one with mixed feelings. Some of the features it introduces help it stand out in the array of tablets available today. However, it falls short when it comes to some basic features. Its performance is not one of its strongest points, though the tablet does score some points in looks and its 3D video feature. The tablet also comes with a pair of 3D glasses which are bound to fascinate customers.

Features:

The G-slate does not bring anything new to the table in design. It is pretty much similar to T-mobile’s older phone called G2x, just a bigger version. The G-slate is more comfortable to hold as compared to other tablets like the Motorola Xoom since it has a soft touch rear and panels on each side to assist with holding the tablet for long hours. The screen works really well and displays bright colors and depth with sharpness. The display is smooth at every angle, even in strong sunlight.
The G-slate has experimented with the positioning of the front-facing camera by placing it on the left corner on top of the tablet, instead of the usual center. The left side of the tablet in landscape mode has the 3.5mm Headset jack, speaker, power button and the charging port. On the right side lie two more speakers. On top of the tablet lie the volume controller and the microphone. The connection ports, like HDMI and MicroUSB, can be found at the bottom of the tablet. At the back of the G-slate lie two 5MP cameras for 3D video recording.
There are plenty of personalization options in tablet. Along with the numerous android widgets available for the G-slate, some extra apps have been included like T-mobile TV and Quick office etc. Contacts are managed in two panes with one listing the contacts and the right pane showing their details.

Verdict:

The G-slate outshines other tablets when it comes to the quality of display. Its solid design not only looks sleek but is also durable. The G-slate also offers 3D video viewing and recording. The 3D anaglyph glasses are also a plus and add something exciting and unique to the otherwise usual tablet. Also, the G-slate comes at a much cheaper price as compared other tablets with the same specifications. This a major plus point and can pull in Motorola XOOM customers. However, the camera quality is compromised and the tablet is a bit on the heavier side. Otherwise, the G-slate will satisfy most customers with its amazing display and the new 3D video feature.

Price:

The current price of the G-slate is $529.99.
