Samsung Mesmerize to Receive Gingerbread Update – No Date Yet

If you own a Samsung Mesmerize smartphone then you will be certainly thrilled with this news. U.S. Cellular has recently announced that its version of the Samsung Galaxy S is scheduled to receive the Android Gingerbread update soon. Gingerbread is the latest version of the popular Google OS for mobile phones. Currently, Samsung Mesmerize runs on Android 2.2 Froyo, which users were able to download last March. The news was made available through U.S. Cellular’s Facebook page.

When will the upgrade be delivered? U.S. Cellular didn’t specify an exact date for the rollout. The only assurance that they were able to provide is that it will be implemented “as soon as possible” If we are to judge based on recent history, then Mesmerize owners may have to wait a little while longer before they can actually have a taste of Gingerbread. Last time, it took U.S Cellular several months to deliver the actual OS upgrade after the announcement has been made.
Hopefully, the company will be more prompt this time around. There is no official word as to the cause of delay. But the U.S. Cellular team assures through their Facebook page that they are working hard to get the update ready. They also promise to provide news as soon as they receive new information.
If you want to be one of the first ones to learn of news about the Samsung Mesmerize update, all you need to do is to “Like” the page of U.S. Cellular on Facebook.
